    Are you ready to take your SMARTBoard to the next level? This course is for those teachers who have previously been trained and want to move beyond the basics. As part of this course teachers will build on their experience with the SMART Board to create dynamic and interactive learning activities! Learn how to use all the tools of the SMART Notebook software to develop lessons with moving and stationary objects, including hidden answers. Use lesser-known features such as SMART Recorder and Video Player to enhance instruction. See how Microsoft Office programs can be used with the SMART Board. Teachers will be given hands-on time to apply new skills and will leave this course with classroom-ready lessons that incorporates the SMART Board.   Promethean Board users welcome, lessons and skills can be converted into Promethean Board.

    This course offers an analysis of the contemporary crisis that includes three inter-related tendencies: environmental degradation; polarization of rich and poor; and the eclipse of community and increasing violence. Introduction to the evolution of the ideas of sustainability and the different interests behind them is a central focus of the course.

    The Rockland County School Health and Wellness Coalition (School Coalition) is a collaborative of Rockland schools, organizations and businesses with a shared vision to have the healthiest students, staff and school communities in the nation. To achieve this, the School Coalition supports the Coordinated School Health model by being the link for schools to the community at large with all of its resources.  The School Coaltion is closely affiliated with the Steps to a Healthier Rockland initiative.

    Collaboration between schools, organizations and local businesses enhances communication, cooperatioin, sharing of resources and problem solving, leading to improved vitality for residents.  The School Coaltion meets 4 times per year and has two workgroups.  The workgroups focus on increasing awareness and skills among community member and schools in:

    • The protective effect of the family meal (Protective Factors Workgroup, Eat Together! campaign)
    • How to create healthier schools (Professional Development Workgroup, spring School Symposium on Connecting Health with Learning and other events)
